“No Sleep ‘til… Maddens”

A tradition unlike any other.. our only Major golf event of the season.

We are just one (1) week out from the tournament! At this time next week we’ll have our first round under our belt and trying to revive our team for the 2nd round.

Wait… did I hear TEAM?! Yes - like the MN Wild, but better. More on that later.

We brought some really fun pieces to the tourney this year, but most importantly; this is a fun weekend (duh) but also weekend to share stories of our dad, your uncle, your friend, whatever he may have been to you, so let’s keep that, and his spirit in mind as we celebrate him this weekend.

On to the tournament updates!

1. On Course Events for each round

   1. Closest to the pin

   2. Longest Drive

   3. Longest putt

2. Sponsored holes by our family members

   1. Each of the On Course Events (6 total) will be sponsored by a Rudie or extended Rudie family.

      1. The sponsoring family has helped either with prizes, or donating to Pheasants Forever in my dad’s honor.

3. Each Event winner will have a prize awarded to them at the evening dinner (some better than others…)

4. A weekend team will be crowned and awarded the coveted “Wooden Lefty” trophy to put on display in your living room or above your fireplace, all year for your family to admire.

5. Dinner reservations at Fairways (on resort restaurant) at 7:00PM Friday and Saturday

Now with the big update:

1. Four-man scramble! - Each player hits a tee shot, selecting the "best" out of the bunch to play their second shot from. Repeat until the hole is finished. Each player’s drive must be used at least 2x per round.
   

2. Teams! We have weekend teams (a la the NHL playoffs), offering a chance at redemption for some on Saturday, or a chance to sweep for the others.
   

   The teams are as follows:

   TEAM A (Name TBD)= Nick + Steve + Dan
   TEAM B (Name TBD)= Sam + Timmy + Dreas + Jay/Ken (Sam’s father in law, Ken will replace Jay on Saturday)

You have 1 week to come up with a team name.
Individuals will still be awarded the longest drive, etc.

Friday | 2:40 PM Team A
2:45 PM Team B
Saturday | 10:30 AM Team A
10:40 AM Team B

House keeping:

• Check in is supposedly not until 4PM on Friday, but Nick and I will be arriving around 12 noon to grab lunch at the resort. All are welcome to join us.

• No free meals this year you scoundrels’! AKA there’s no meal package included this year. Breakfast, lunch and dinner you can eat at any of the restaurants, or in your room, or not at all if that’s your thing.

  • We do have reservations held for the main restaurant on site for 7PM Friday and Saturday

• There is a great golf package available however that I and some of you might take advantage of. The “Play it All” package includes the two rounds this weekend but also includes two additional rounds in the fall after peak season. Free golf anyone?

• No plans on Sunday.
